Tea mosquito bug: Helopeltis theivora   

Symptoms of damage:

  • Nymphs and adults severely attack the plant by feeding on the tender foliage.
  • Necrotic lesions develop around the feeding puncture leaving shot holes on the lamina.

Identification of the pest:

  • Adult – Black colour with Red thorax, black and white abdomen and greenish brown wings.

Management

  • Spray phosalone 2ml / lit of water in the evening hours for better control.
