Pod borer: Anisolabis stalli
Symptoms of damage:
- Young pods showing bore holes plugged with excreta
- Sand particles or discoloured pulps
- Pods without kernal.
Identification of the pest:
- Nymph: White in early stages and later turns brown
- Adult: Dark brown to black with forceps like caudal cerci and white leg joints
Management:
- Apply any one of the following on soil at 40 DAS prior to sowing in endemic areas
- Malathion 5 D 25 kg/ha
- Carbofuran 3% CG 50 kg/ha.
